We all want a better Nigeria, but most of our businesses are opportunists. It can't survive when every goes right with the Nigerian economy. Now that Aba has become the first city experiencing 24 hours power supply in Nigeria, some business will not be needed there. The person selling and servicing generators will have to leave. The person selling ice blocks will no longer get patronage. Without the right service, businesses operate from the lowest human needs. They don't care about experiences for their customers. However, when those basic needs are supplied, companies have to innovate for their customers to remain the market.#nigerianbusiness #aba #geometric #abia #energy

Exploitation and modern-day slavery in Nigeria's oil and gas sector are frequently concealed through personnel outsourcing and contract employment. Contract employees are subjected to harsh conditions and inhumane treatment, all in the name of cutting costs and making profits. These tactics violate core business principles, which require a corporation to pay its taxes, pay its employees a fair wage, and care for society through corporate social responsibility.I have colleagues who have been engaged for about four years now, and their employer has refused to issue them an employment letter. They are not aware of their employment terms or benefits. They can’t approach the bank for a loan and don’t have access to other benefits like medical coverage, a pension plan, or most allowances paid to personnel working in a hazardous environment. These men and women are responsible for managing critical assets worth millions of dollars, yet they barely earn up to $300 a month. The workers in the photograph are not the same as those addressed in the post.Image credit: Premium Times Nigeria

it's an industry that mostly favours the fair skin individual and their black collaborators. What saddens me the most is when a road side technicians with little or no #experience will be employed with an exaggerated #cv and made a expert with a full rank of a general. you will only understand better when you work under such kind of person. it's an industry where the sensing element that is in direct contact with process variables suffer from neglect while the gauges in the cabinet are given a 2HP AC.

Libya aims for 8% increase in oil production by end of 2023Libya is aiming to boost oil production by about 8% by December, a level that would catapult it to the highest in over a decade.North Africa’s biggest producer should be able to pump about 1.3 MMbpd by the end of the year, farhat omar bengdara, chairman of the National Oil Company, said in an interview. Avoiding field closures and steps like improving oil workers’ pay already helped boost production by nearly a quarter since January 2022 to 1.2 MMbpd now, he said. Crude oil production has frequently been held hostage to infighting, although output has held steady this year, offering hope that the country’s troubles might abate. Nigeria,To raise revenues, you need to increase production. To increase production, you need constant power/energy supply and security.Agriculture isn't enough to raise revenues. Oil is in the short term, hence the need to stop oil theft.Enhanced energy will make production diversification and FDI possible in the medium term.It is time for Nigeria to address the hindrances to 24/7 power supply in the country. Power supply in Nigeria is unstable yet expensive relative to per capita income. This has to change to increase production and revenues. At the end of the day, Nigeria's structural issues have come to the forefront and can no longer be patched with "subsidy" or "palliative".
