PAX wardrobe frameJodiI have purchased so many IKEA products, furniture and other. This PAX wardrobe frame stinks like particle board and the pre-drilled holes (for shelves) do not allow the "pegs" to be adjusted easily! I took out 3 to adjust a shelf and it broke/cracked the covering around the hole. I feel like this wardrobe should have been in the "cheap" section of another big box store! So disappointed, b/c we have the 2 PAX wardrobes that are shallower and love them!1

Shocked with Poor Quality StandardAntonellaI was expecting a better quality from the PAX frames. I have just installed a Section kitchen and was expecting the same quality. PAX is the old IKEA quality. The backs were not cut properly to size so nailing them in was really difficult so as to avoid the nails punching through the side of the cabinet. Also, it would be better to provide a little more solid interior to the side panels so that they could be reinforced to make up for the bowing.This product needed a lot of love and IKEA Hacking to make it work.2

Cheap materialsAaronI'm pretty disappointed with the quality of the materials. I purchased Pax wardrobes years ago, and they were considerably more sturdy. These feel like a step above cardboard.2

Could Improve Back Panel DesignTraceyI love my new IKEA closet system. However, this PAX unit could be improved. The back panel is very flimsy and comes folded in half, so you can see the seam once assembled. Instead of sliding the back panel into a groove, you have to hammer in 30+ nails, which is quite time consuming. I like the way it looks, but the design could be improved.3
Worst quality, Frame came apartDevardhiThe frame snapped and came apart while fixing. The screws snapped out of wood and the whole frame fell down. The wood inserts were weak and did not hold the horizontal and vertical frame together, The backside cardboard does not provide strength to the whole structure. Waste of money1
OK product with average quality materialWeiI think the overall quality of the boards could be improved. The wood chips of the particle board fell off easily. On the positive side, the assembly instructions is thorough, although you need some patience to read it through.3

Completely fell apart during assemblyNatalieFollowed instructions exactly. When it's finally put together and ready to be moved vertical, every single screw ripped out of the particleboard. Completely unsalvageable.1
DO NOT BUYKristiPut together this frame and the 19' one. Went to stand this one up and the screws came out. top board came crashing down and gouged my arm and the sides caved in. I have bought so many dressers from IKEA that I was sure this would be an easy fix to my closet. So disappointed and now have to drive an hour to return.1
