With Heuston services relatively unchanged for most of the day, the times of operation for Phoenix Park Tunnel services are effectively locked in between Newbridge/Hazelhatch and Drumcondra.

In determining which service is to operate across to Grand Canal Dock and return, the latest passenger demand figures were used, which on many occasions sees a large multiple of customers travelling on the Maynooth or Northern Commuter service compared to the Phoenix Park Tunnel. It is also the case that there would not be adequate capacity on PPT services to accommodate customers transferring from Maynooth or Northern Commuter services.
In addition on Mondays to Fridays all Northern Commuter services after 20.00 from Dublin will additionally serve Howth Jctn, Clongriffin and Portmarnock. All Northern Commuter services in both directions on Saturdays and Sundays will now additionally serve Howth Jctn, Clongriffin and Portmarnock.
Unfortunately it is not currently possible to add any additional services in the peak periods Monday to Friday due to capacity constraints on existing Commuter services or no more available fleet on DART.
