Ever since the first Vande Bharat Express was launched in 2019 from Delhi to Varanasi, the semi-high-speed train has become a popular mode of transport within the country. Much faster and lighter than other trains in India, it not just cuts down on travel time, but also improves a traveller’s journey, with a host of amenities and features such as WiFi connectivity, 32-inch entertainment screens, massive glass windows and much more. Vande Bharat Express now functions on over 40 routes across India. Along with this, the special trains have been running to serve the demands of festive seasons as well as winter travel. Every now and then, a few train routes are also extended to serve a larger network and cover more stations. Here’s the full list:

Vande Bharat Express trains in India

Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train from Tirunelveli stops at 14 stations, including Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli, Villupuram and Tambaram. It covers a distance of 630km to reach Chennai in seven hours and 50 minutes.
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Tuesdays. It departs from Tirunelveli at 6am and reaches Chennai by 1.50pm. The return journey begins from Chennai at 2.50pm and reaches Tirunelveli by 10.40pm.

MGR Chennai-Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express

Route: This Vande Bharat train from Chennai and passes through Renigunta, Nellore, Ongole and Tenali Junction, covering a distance of 516km to reach Vijayawada in six hours and 40 minutes.
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Tuesdays. It departs from Chennai at 5.30am to reach Vijayawada at 12.10pm. The return journey begins from Vijayawada at 3.20pm and ends at MGR Chennai by 10pm.

Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express

Route: Starting from Patna, this train passes through Patna Saheb, Mokama Junction, Luckeesarai Junction, Jasidih Junction, Jamtara, Asansol Junction and Durgapur. The train service is poised to establish a new speed record, covering a distance of 535km .
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Wednesdays. It departs from Patna at 8am and reaches Howrah by 2.35pm, taking six hours 50 minutes. The return journey begins from Howrah at 3.50pm and ends in Patna at 10.40pm.

Secunderabad (Kacheguda) - Bengaluru (Yesvantpur) Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train starts from Secunderabad (Kacheguda) and passes through Mahbubnagar, Kurnool City, Anatapur and Dharmavaram Junction, covering a distance of 609km to reach Bengaluru (Yesvantpur) in over eight hours 15 minutes.
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Wednesdays. It departs from Secunderabad (Kacheguda) at 5.45am to reach Bengaluru (Yesvantpur) by 2pm. The return journey begins from Bengaluru (Yesvantpur) at 2.45pm and ends in Secunderabad (Kacheguda) at 11pm.

Rourkela-Puri Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train from Puri passes through Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Talcher Road, Angul, Rairakhol, Sambalpur City and Jharsuguda, covering a distance of roughly 505km to reach Rourkela in seven hours and 30 minutes.
Schedule and timings: The Vande Bharat train runs six days a week except on Saturdays. It departs from Puri at 5am and reaches Rourkela by 12.45pm. It returns from Rourkela at 2.10pm to reach Puri at 9.40pm.

Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express (via Alappuzha)

Route: Starting from Kasaragod, this train passes through Kannur, Kozhikode, Shoranur, Tirur, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Alappuzha and Kollam, covering a distance of 573 kilometres to reach Thiruvananthapuram in about eight hours five minutes.
Schedule and timings: While the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express runs on all days of the week except Sunday, the return train runs on all days except Tuesday. It departs from Kasaragod at 7am and reaches Thiruvananthapuram by 3.05pm. On the return journey, it departs from Thiruvananthapuram at 4.05pm and arrives in Kasaragod at 11.45pm.

Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express

Route: Rajasthan’s third Vande Bharat Express starts from Udaipur and passes through Ranapratapnagar, Mavli Junction, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Bijainagar, Ajmer Junction and Kishangarh to reach Jaipur. It covers a distance of 435km in six hours and 20 minutes.
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Tuesdays. It leaves Udaipur at 7.50am to reach Jaipur by 2.10pm. The return journey from Jaipur starts at 3.45pm and ends in Udaipur at 10:08pm.
Ticket cost: Ranges from Rs1,330* to Rs2,350*.

Jamnagar-Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train starts from Jamnagar and passes through Rajkot, Wankaner Junction, Surendranagar, Viramgam Junction, Sanand, and Sabarmati Junction covering a distance of 449km to reach Ahmedabad in under four hours 15 minutes.
Schedule and timings: The Jamnagar-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express 22962 runs six days a week except on Wednesdays, and the Ahmedabad-Jamnagar Vande Bharat Express 22925 runs on all days except Tuesday. It departs from Okha at 3:40am, passes by Jamnagar at 5.30am and reaches Ahmedabad at 10.10pm. The return journey begins from Ahmedabad 6:10pm, passes by Jamnagar by 10.25pm and ends at Okha at 12:40am.

Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train leaves from Ranchi in Jharkhand to reach Howrah in West Bengal in seven hours and 10 minutes. It stops at Muri, Kotshila, Purulia, Chandil, Tata and Kharagpur on the way.
Schedule and timings: The train runs on all days of the week except Tuesdays. It departs from Ranchi at 6am to reach Howrah at 1:10pm. Upon return, it leaves from Howrah at 3.45pm to reach Ranchi at 10.50pm.

Mumbai - Goa Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train from Mumbai passes through Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Khed, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Thivim to reach Madgaon, taking seven hours 45 minutes. The duration is expected to be longer during monsoons (10 hours).
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Sundays (monsoons) and on Fridays (other seasons). It departs from CSMT at 5.25am and reaches Magdaon at 1:10pm. The return journey begins from Magdaon at 2.40pm and ends at CSMT by 10.25pm.

Patna - Ranchi Vande Bharat Express

Route: The train starts from Patna and passes through Gaya Junction, Koderma Junction, Hazaribagh, Barkakana, and Mesra to reach Ranchi, taking about six hours.
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Tuesdays. It departs from Patna Junction at 7am and reaches Ranchi Junction by 1pm. The return journey begins from Ranchi Junction at 4.15pm and ends at Patna Junction by 10.10pm.

KSR Bengaluru - Dharwad Vande Bharat Express

Route: Starting from KSR Bengaluru Junction, the train passes through Yeshwanthapura Junction, Davanagere, SSS Hubballi Junction and Dharwad to reach Belgavi. It will cover 611 kms in six hours 25 minutes.
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Tuesdays. It departs from Bengaluru at 5.45am and reaches Belgavi by 12:10pm. The return journey begins from Belgavi at 1:15pm and reaches KSR Bengaluru Junction by 7:45pm.

Rani Kamalapati - Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train starts from Rani Kamalapati and passes through Narmadapuram, Itarsi Junction, Pipariya and Narsinghpur to reach Jabalpur Junction.
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Tuesdays. It departs from Rani Kamalapati at 3:30pm and reaches Jabalpur Junction by 7:50pm, taking about four hours 20 minutes. The return journey begins from Jabalpur Junction at 8:45am and reaches Rani Kamalapati by 1:30pm.

Indore - Bhopal Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train connects Indore Junction with Bhopal Junction via Ujjain.
Schedule and timings: The train runs on all days except Sundays. It departs from Indore Junction at 6:10am and reaches Bhopal Junction by 9:10am, taking about three hours. The return journey begins from Bhopal Junction at 8:35pm and ends at Indore Junction by 11:45pm.

Jodhpur - Sabarmati (Ahmedabad) Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train starts from Jodhpur and passes through Pali Marwar, Falna, Abu Road, Palanpur Junction and Mahesana Junction to reach Sabarmati, taking about six hours.
Schedule and timings: This train runs six days a week except on Tuesdays. It departs from Jodhpur at 6:05am and reaches Sabarmati by 12.05pm. The return journey begins from Sabarmati at 4.45pm and ends in Jodhpur by 10:50pm.

Gorakhpur - Lucknow Charbagh Vande Bharat Express

Route: Inaugurated in July, this train from Gorakhpur Junction passes through Basti, Ayodhya Junction and Prayagraj to reach Lucknow Charbagh in about four hours 15 minutes.
Schedule and timings: The train runs on all days except Saturdays. It departs from Gorakhpur at 6.05am to reach Lucknow Charbagh at 10.20am. Upon return, it starts from Lucknow Charbagh at 6:25pm and reaches Gorakhpur by 10:30pm.

Thiruvananthapuram Central - Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express (via Kottayam)

Route: The train from Thiruvananthapuram passes through Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur to reach Kasaragod.
Schedule and timings: It runs six days a week except on Thursdays. The train leaves Thiruvananthapuram at 5:15am and arrives in Kasaragod at 1:20pm. On return, it departs from Kasargod at 2.30pm and arrives in Thiruvananthapuram at 10.40pm.

Secunderabad - Tirupati Vande Bharat Express

Route: Halting at Nalgonda, Guntur, Ongole and Nellore, this train takes eight hours and 15 minutes to complete its journey.
Schedule and timings: It runs on all days except Tuesdays. The train departs from Secunderabad at 6.15am and reaches Tirupati at 2.34pm, taking eight hours 19 minutes. It begins the return journey from Tirupati at 3.15pm and reaches Secunderabad at 11.30pm.

Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express

Route: Cutting down travel time between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam by about two hours, this high-speed train makes stops at Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada Junction and Rajahmundry.
Schedule and timings: It operates six days a week except on Sunday. It departs from Secunderabad at 3pm and reaches Vizag at 11.31pm. The return journey begins from Vizag at 5.45am and ends in Secunderabad at 2.15pm, covering the distance in just over eight hours 31 minutes.

Ajmer - Delhi Vande Bharat Express

Route: India’s 15th Vande Bharat Express covers 428km in five hours and 10 minutes, stopping at Jaipur, Alwar and Gurgaon to reach Delhi Cantt. However, this route has now been extended till Chandigarh.
Schedule and timings: The train runs six days a week except on Wednesdays. It leaves Ajmer at 6:20am, halts at Delhi Cantt at 11.30am and reaches Chandigarh at 2.45pm.
Ticket cost: Ranges from Rs1,085* to Rs2,275*.

Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express

Route: Inaugurated in May, this train reaches from Delhi to Dehradun in four hours and 45 minutes. On the way, stops are made at Meerut City, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Roorkee and Haridwar.
Schedule and timings: It runs six days a week except on Wednesdays. The train departs from Anand Vihar in Delhi at 5.50pm and reaches Dehradun at 10.35pm. It departs from Dehradun at 7am and reaches Delhi at 11.45am.
Ticket cost: Ranges from Rs1,065* to Rs1,890*.

Hazrat Nizamuddin - Rani Kamlapati Vande Bharat Express

Route: This Vande Bharat train leaves from Rani Kamlapati in Bhopal to reach Hazrat Nizamuddin in Delhi. Stops include Lakshmibai, Gwalior and Agra Cantt.
Schedule and timings: It runs six days a week except Saturdays. The train departs from Bhopal 5.40am and reaches Delhi at 1.10pm, taking seven hours 36 minutes. It then departs from Delhi at 2.40pm to reach Bhopal at 10.16pm.

New Delhi - Varanasi Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train travelling from New Delhi to Varanasi stops at Kanpur and Allahabad.
Schedule and timings: It departs from New Delhi at 3pm to reach Varanasi at 11:05pm, and leaves New Delhi at 6am and reaches Varanasi at 2:05pm. The train cuts travel time from 13 hours to eight hours five minutes. It does not operate on Tuesday.

New Delhi - Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (J&K) Vande Bharat Express

Route: The train from New Delhi to Katra makes travelling to Vaishno Devi much faster, completing the distance which otherwise takes over over nine hours in eight hours five minutes. Its stops include Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana and Jammu Tawi. It is also known to be India’s first vegetarian train, as there’s no meat or eggs served on the menu.
Schedule and timings: It operates six days a week except on Wednesday. The train departs from New Delhi at 6am and reaches Katra at 2:05pm. The train leaves Katra at 2:55pm and reaches New Delhi at 11pm.

New Delhi - Amb Andaura in Himachal Pradesh Vande Bharat Express

Route: Inaugurated in October 2022, this train from New Delhi to Himachal Pradesh stops at stations in Ambala, Chandigarh and Anandpur Sahib before reaching its destination in Una.
Schedule and timings: This train operates on all days except Tuesday. It departs from New Delhi railway station at 5.50am and reaches Amb Anadaura at 11:05am. It departs from Amb Anadaura at 1pm to reach New Delhi at 6.25pm, covering the distance in five hours and 15 minutes.
Ticket cost: Ranges from Rs1,105* to Rs2,110*.

Chennai - Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train will save you an hour and twenty minutes as compared to other express trains on this route. On its way, it’ll halt at Tiruppur, Erode and Salem.
Schedule and timings: It runs six days a week except Wednesdays. From Chennai, it departs at 2.15pm and reaches Coimbatore at 8.15pm, taking six hours to reach. The train departs from Coimbatore at 6am and reaches Chennai at 11.50am.

Chennai - Mysuru Vande Bharat Express

Route: South India’s first Vande Bharat Express train was launched in November 2022. This train from Chennai to Mysuru stops at Katpadi and Bengaluru.
Schedule and timings: It operates all week except Wednesday. It departs from Chennai at 5.00pm and reaches Mysuru Junction at 11:20pm, and departs from Mysuru at 1.05pm and arrives in Chennai at 7.20pm, covering the distance in six hours 15 minutes.

Nagpur - Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express

Route: Inaugurated in December 2022, this train from Nagpur to Bilaspur makes stops at Raipur, Durg, and Gondia.
Schedule and timings: The train operates on all days of the week except Saturday. Departing from Nagpur at 2.05pm, it reaches Bilaspur at 7.25pm. The train departs from Bilaspur Junction at 6.45am and reaches Nagpur Junction at 12.15pm, covering a large distance in over five hours 20 minutes.

New Jalpaiguri - Guwahati Vande Bharat Express

Route: Northeast India’s first Vande Bharat Express was flagged off in May 2023. It stops at New Cooch Behar, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, New Bongaigaon and Kamakhya.
Schedule and timings: It runs six days a week except on Tuesdays. The train departs from New Jalpaiguri at 6.10am and reaches Guwahati at 11.40am, taking five hours 30 minutes From Guwahati, it departs at 4.30pm and reaches New Jalpaiguri at 10pm.

Howrah - New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express

Route: West Bengal’s first Vande Bharat Express stops at Bolpur (Shantiniketan), Malda Town, and Barsoi.
Schedule and timings: The train operates on six days except Wednesday. Covering the distance between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri in seven hours 30 minutes, the train leaves Howrah Junction at 5.55am and reaches New Jalpaiguri at 1.25pm. The train then departs from New Jalpaiguri at 3pm to reach Howrah at 10.35pm.

Howrah-Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express

Route: The Howrah-Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express stops at Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road.

Gandhinagar - Mumbai Vande Bharat Express

Route: Launched in September 2022, this train connecting Gandhinagar with Mumbai stops at Surat, Vadodara Junction and Ahmedabad Junction. This train covers the distance between Gujarat and Maharashtra in under six hours 20 minutes, the journey could otherwise take about nine hours.
Schedule and timings: The train operates six days a week except Wednesday. The train leaves Gandhinagar at 2:05pm and reaches Mumbai at 8:25pm, taking six hours 20 minutes. The return journey begins from Mumbai at 6am and reaches Gandhinagar at 12:25pm.

Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express

Route: This train from Mumbai to Solapur makes stops at Dadar, Kalyan, Pune and Kurduwadi before reaching its final destination.
Schedule and timings: This train operates six days a week with services being suspended on Wednesday. It departs from Mumbai at 4.05pm and reaches Solapur at 10.40pm, and departs from Solapur at 6.40am and reaches Mumbai at 2:20pm, covering the distance in six hours and 40 minutes.

Mumbai- Shirdi Vande Bharat Express

Route: The train from Mumbai to Shirdi halts at Dadar, Thane and Nashik Road.

Route: The train from Patna to Lucknow halts at Ara, Buxar, DD Upadhyaya Junction, Varanasi Junction, and Ayodhya before reaching its final destination

Vande Bharat Special trains

A few Vande Bharat Special trains have been inaugurated to meet the rising demand of travellers. A few were inaugurated for festivals like Diwali and Chatt Puja, while others will remain in operation for a few months to cater to seasonal travel.

Chennai - Mysuru Vande Bharat Special

Route: This Vande Bharat train from Mysore halts at Mandya, KSR Bengaluru, Krishnarajapuram and Katpadi Jn covering a distance of 500km in six hours 25 minutes.
Schedule and timings: This train runs six days a week except for Wednesday. The train starts from Mysore at 6am and arrives at 12:25pm in Chennai. While returning, the train leaves at 5pm from Chennai Central and arrives at 11:20pm in Mysore.

Chennai Central - Coimbatore Vande Bharat Special

Route: This Vande Bharat Special train from Chennai Central to Coimbatore halts at Salem Junction, Erode Junction, and Tiruppur before reaching the final destination.
